Minimum Wage

by Gwyneth on November 24, 2009

I would like to thank Hilary Rose of Hilary Rose Personnel for this information about the minimum wage. Hilary’s details are at the end of the post

We are coming to that time of the year again when employers have to look at their wage structure to make sure it is compliant with the Minimum wage.  The Department for Business suggest that nearly one million people will benefit from the increase on 1st October 2009, however it is to be the lowest increase since Minimum wage was introduced in April 1999.

The Low Pay commission’s recommendations possibly reflect the present ecomonic climate and has suggested this low increase as a way to protect employees both with their jobs and their earnings.
